Does Jim Webb’s (S-VA) Have The Ability For Rational Thought?
An article broke today attempting to detail Virginia’s Junior, Senator Jim Webb’s reasoning behind why east coast whites aren’t feelin’ Obama at the polls. Here is an excerpt from that….
Rather Webb whose previous book Born Fighting explores the
effect of Scots-Irish culture on America’s formation — argued that
Scots-Irish voters’ unwillingness to support Obama is less about the
candidate himself, than about a sense of injustice among the community
manifested by the government assistance afforded to minorities in the
post-Civil Rights Era:
I don’t want to get too far into this as to expose my ignorance towards the election right now and towards Jim Webb’s nonsensical opinion but does this make sense to you? Click here to peruse the article.
To be clear here, I’m supposed to believe that the Scot-Irish whites in the rural areas of the east and suburbs alike aren’t voting for Obama because they resent all the opportunities that blacks and other minorities have received? Well, I’m not buying what Mr. Webb is selling and I like the guy too. What do these whites, who may be poor, but are starting out a lot less-disadvantaged than anyone with a tint to their skin want, some sort of reparations for their ancestors coming to this country of their own free will?
See here I go. I know Jim Webb is trying to ease the stigma associated with Obama being black and rural whites hating that but this seems to me to be an illogical argument. Sure many a white man/woman have suffered, I’ve seen the movie, Gangs of New York and I’ve also seen White Man’s Burden — I know not all white people have trust funds. But to make the argument that these mobile home dwellers ( Not all poor whites live in mobile homes just as not all poor blacks live in tenements) resent Obama because of the privileges people who look like him have received is giving them too much credit.
I think all of you would agree that our Senator from VA probably should just shut up. Should we give him the verbal diarrhea warning?

Do you think he is on point with his argument? Let us know — By leaving a comment. I asked for it so do it.
