yea i know i’m getting a little sizzled but its purely frustration. by no means am i disregarding anybodys comments as wrong just because its differs from mine. its just that it seems that i engage in these debates weekly and here the same rebuttals. so that tells me that this is how the public feels so i must make a honest attempt to understand it but at the same time i feel i am once again swayed back to my stance when i discover that laffy taffy is #1 on the charts, or the Hills cast got the cover of Rolling
Stone and the biggest article in the issue is on the Roots. I also realize that I do get off topic but that is because i feel like this stuff is way bigger than just music. Laffy taffy at #1 says something loud about American culture and your cd collection says a little bit about who you are. Look I don’t mind Wayne or even Soulja Boy(a little), and I know i’m looking in the wrong place when it comes to my taste, and I know there are different ways to measure success. it just that i’m pretty cynical about entertainment when its packaged and force fed down my throat, then i throw up, look around, and my peers are saying “mmmm, that was tasty.” i’m losing a little bit of faith in the publics ability to, as a whole, say “no we ain’t buying this warmed over, recycled garbage.” it’s all psychology to me. i’m ranting now so i’m out.

Sheik, I think you get a lot of counter-feedback because of the tone in your posts. It’s like you’re mad at us readers that we haven’t heard of this song yet or that we like Lil Wayne. Why don’t tell us to listen to this song and then say you like it better than Wayne without condescendingly challenging us to find something better? It sounds like you have your chest all puffed out rather it was intentional or not. Nonetheless, I will take a listen when I have a chance.

If you think the whole last debate was simply about being commercial, making money, and getting celebrity than you’re wrong. Don’t come at me, the reader, with that sarcasm like, “Nobody is paying attention to Joe Budden so that must mean he isn’t worth damn,” schtick. Boo hoo hoo. You know damn well anyone with half a brain doesn’t think about rap like that. I have Joe Budden’s first studio release and I thought it was strong. More power to him. Rap is a competition homie and it has numerous measurables.

Joe Budden is tight. I do like his messages and intent better than Wayne’s. Nuff said.

Also check out Stephen and Damian Marley. They are very socially conscious. And can flow with the best of em.
