Pandora Radio: My Cubicle’s New Best Friend
Pandora Radio (found here) is an office worker’s new best friend. Pandora is an online radio station that’s taking the medium to a new level of radio. After a simple registration, users can create different radio stations by typing in artists or genres of music. Once Pandora’s database matches the entry you’ve provided, it plays music from that artist and other artists that have something in common with that group. The best part is, no commercials!!!
For those of you with cool new high-tech phones, you can also access Pandora via mobile online, enabling you to groove to the sounds that move you all day long.
Now you might think that this would only be for TOP 40 music, or that only mainstream songs from artist you like surface, but this could not be further from the truth. Just the other day on my “OutKast” station (which I made myself), the oldskool jam “Hootie Hoo” from their first album Southerplayalisticcadillacfunkymusic came on. I was shocked and awed. And to do one better, the very next song was one by Tribe Called Quest called “Award Tour.” Now to the average music fan, this may not seem like that big of a deal, but I can tell you that once you open Pandora’s Box, nothing will ever make you want to close it again.
