Pictures Of O.A.R. (Live) At The Rock & Roll Hotel
It’s a simplistic way of thinking to sit at your computer and write a critical review of something someone put their time and effort into creating. I know you get paid to do it, but who are you and who am I to bash art. Whether you’re qualified or not. It’s one thing to not like the music on a technical level, but it’s another thing to dislike the sound because it isn’t what you’re used to getting from that artist.
All artists want to make a living, but it’s very difficult to tell which artists are out to make a quick buck and which are fully-vested. With that in mind, calling a band a “sell-out” because they made it big and/or signed a deal with a major label is quite moronic. In the case of O.A.R.’s musical stylings, I’m partial to their live stuff. I was totally turned off by their latest offering, All Sides, but I listened to it anyway. It was produced my Maroon 5 and still, I listened. Then a funny thing happened; it grew on me.
Last night, I was fortunate enough to see O.A.R. perform a live acoustic set at the Rock & Roll Hotel. Suffice to say that I couldn’t hear the band over my own singing. Here are some photos from the event; all of which I barrelled my way through the crowd, telling upset on-lookers that the pictures were for my girlfriend when they were really for me (and you). Also, we have O.A.R.’s tribute to the troops, War Song, which they performed last night. During the holidays, make an effort to get involved in a letter writing campaign or anything as to not forget those who are sacrificing their time, effort, blood, sweat, and sensibilities to protect our interests.
