“Don’t go Turning Inauguration into an All-Star Game”
If you call yourself a fan of rap, then Skillz ‘08 wrap-up has you covered. It’s pretty much on point with some very sick one-liners.
In other rap news, 2009 brings up the top selling albums of 2008 courtesy of Realtalkny.
- Lil Wayne – Tha Carter III 2.8 Million
- T.I. – Paper Trail 1.5 million
- Kanye West -808s & Heartbreak 1 million
- Rick Ross – Trilla 709k
- Young Jeezy – The Recession 706k
- The Game – LAX 633k
- Plies – Definition of Real 552k
- Ludacris – Theater Of The Mind 439k
- Nas – Untitled 428k
- Snoop Dogg – Ego Trippin 379k
- Flo-Rida – Mail On Sunday 356k
To no one’s surprise, Lil Wayne sold more than anyone else. I will say that although I did like his album and the fact that he was grindin’ real hard with the amount of guest spots, he is now a bit annoying and should probably take a vacation. Kanye West, who is rumored to be retiring from rap to pursue fashion (unconfirmed), should also consider sitting out 2009 because he is also annoying. Kanye is unique, but jackin’ T-Pain’s voice is lame and unorginal. 808s & Heartbreak, I refused to buy or even listen to, but Kanye’s had a rough year so we’ll cut him a break. As far as everyone else on the list, looks like they’re going to need to reassess their sound if they’re looking to do Nickleback numbers.
My rap album of the year is Young Jeezy’s The Recession (released in September ‘08). The title is timely, and the content is fitting.
“My president is black — my lambo’s blue.”
