Have You Posted Your Facebook “25 Random Things” Yet?
Cnn.com and Time.com certainly have Facebook on the brain today. An affiliation with Facebook must exist between Cnn/TimeWarner or maybe judging by CNN’s page on the social networking site, they just realized how valuable FB can be for marketing to people that matter and wouldn’t otherwise know what CNN is because they don’t watch the news. What is news anymore, by the by? Either way, Time and CNN had a joneses for FB that is more than purely coincidental.
A member of the FFT/udothedishes street team sent me this link a few hours ago.
I didn’t even have to read the article to get the gist. People, columnists and layman alike, have grown tired of the facebook version of e-mail forwards. Notes from friends like 25 Random things things about me, are unsolicited and cause me and others great pain. Especially when a huge majority of the FB dullards seem to be filling them out and sending them my way. People, this isn’t MySpace. Let’s keep it so FB doesn’t become an Ewasteland.
Then, I read that people are getting their accounts hacked on our beloved people stalking mecca, and while sympathetic, I can’t help but feel like you have to be careless to get hacked — not stupid, just careless — but you have to be a complete moron to send a thousand dollars to anyone based off of a FACEBOOK STATUS.
From Cnn.com [link]:
Without his input, Bryan Rutberg’s Facebook status update — the way friends track each other — suddenly changed on January 21 to this frightening alert:
“Bryan NEEDS HELP URGENTLY!!!”
His online friends saw the message and came to his aid. Some posted concerned messages on his public profile — “What’s happening????? What do you need?” one wrote. Another friend, Beny Rubinstein, got a direct message saying Rutberg had been robbed at gunpoint in London and needed money to get back to the United States.
So, trying to be a good friend, Rubinstein wired $1,143 to London in two installments, according to police in Bellevue, Washington.
Finally, the question of the day from where else…Cnn.com [Sigh].

udothedishes.com…
the 25 random things on facebook is one of the more annoying things i’ve seen lately. if i cared about any of those things, i’d act like a normal person and ask you directly. nice post
I agree with this post.
I think I’m going do some research and possibly write a Law Review article about why I think Facebook should be held liable for invasion of privacy.
Ehf. Facebook.
More Ovalteen please!!!
Oh wow!!…I had no idea this was as serious! I have to admit i was one of those dumb ones that took 4hours to fill out those 25 random things…I only did it, cuz i thought it’d be rude not to send it back…anyway..I totally agree with keeping facebook personal instead of commercial. That’s why I deleted my MySpace account in the first place. And let me just add!..that you really made it hard to get one of those t-shirts!!…Im not good at writting comments!..lol..but i want one! I’ll buy it
again thanks for the good posts and very helpfull info.
