“I’ve never seen so many white people…”
FUTURE (N): Recession Proof Headnod Music
[Band Members: James Helle: Guitar/VOX, Gordon Sterling: Guitar/VOX, Chuck X. Bucket: EMCEE/NOIZ, Tony Moreno: Electric Bass, Deron Pinchback: Drums]
If you don’t have plans for THIS Friday night, you do now. Iota Club & Cafe in Arlington is playing host to what I consider to be one of the true forces in the DC metro music scene. To compare Future to any other band, in my opinion, would be an insult. They’re no ‘fly by night’ act as their sound has taken years to hone. Their website describes their music as a ‘progressive psychedelic style of rock’, but there are also distinct infusions of hip-hop, soul, and reggae, all brought together through a backbone of funk.

For this show, I advise you to be prepared for a new sound and a frenetic intensity that draws you in and makes you feel as if you belong. I’ve seen them over 10 times live, the last time being in Vienna at Jammin’ Java. As that show ended and we were exiting, I asked the person next to me what their impressions were, he stated,” he’d never seen so many white people dancing in his life” and that he “went in not knowing what to expect and the instant they started playing, I was drawn in and blown by how they were able to seamlessly blend the different types of music.”
Brilliant.
So come join some of your Food for thought staffers for a brew, maybe a [edit: "L"], and some quality sounds.
udothedishes…
Iota Club & Cafe is located at 2832 Wilson Blvd. Arlington, VA 22201, just two blocks from the douchebag mecca, Clarendon Ballroom.
I don’t know what interested me more… the quote about seeing so many white people dance or the part about being drawn in and blown. I’ll be there. And everyone better hope this white girl doesn’t dance.
J’s?
I prefer L’s personally.

I prefer BBW.
I’m trying to tell you guys!! To miss a Future show is blasphemous and punishable by decapitation!! And if you go to the show, you’ll lose your head from all the vicious head knodding! so… how do you wanna lost your head??
Man Future (the music and the people) is one of the things I miss most about not living in the States! If you haven´t seen them, you really don´t know what you´re missing. Musically and personally…every one of them!
