Kings is a new show that came on last night, March 15th on NBC.  While the Megalomaniac described it as a what if story based on what the U.S. would look like with a King instead of a president, here’s the real description of the show from NBC.com:

“”Kings” is a contemporary re-telling of the timeless tale of David and Goliath. This series is an epic story of greed and power, war and romance, forbidden loves and secret alliances — and a young hero who rises to power in a modern-day kingdom.”

From the description it’s evident that this show has a lot of fitting themes and loads of plot potential.  Judging from last night’s premiere episode the camera work and character development alone has made not coming back for next week’s show virtually impossible.

The character David Shepherd (Chris Egan), is an instant hero and his passion and delivery of dialogue capture the audience from the first scenes of the show.

Again from NBC.com, here is a rundown of the first episode.  Although it does tell a little about plot, it is not enough to ruin the passion and energy of the show:

€œKing Silas Benjamin (Ian McShane) is the well-entrenched king of Gilboa, whose flag bears a divine butterfly symbol.  Gilboa has its capital in Shiloh, a clean new city that is unspoiled by time or litter.   Silas must deal with the tensions rising between Gilboa and neighboring nation Gath.  When several prisoners of war are taken, a young soldier, David Shepherd (Chris Egan), defies orders and crosses enemy lines to save them. Unknown to David, the soldier he saves is Jack Benjamin (Sebastian Stan), the son of the king.  From that day forth, David’s life will never be the same.€

And just so you are not a week behind next Sunday,  you can watch the first episode here on NBC.com.  This show gets my hard to obtain stamp of approval.  The DVR is set to record and from this day on, count me in as Fully Vested in KINGS.

David Shepherd looks like the lead from the O.C., not that I watched that show or anything.

I’ve never heard of this before but Ian McShane is the best character on the best show ever made…Deadwood. I’ll have to check it out.
