It’s clear that we all watch a lot of TV. I’m no exception. I’d say 50 percent of the time the TV is on I’m watching something I’ve DVR’d in hopes of keeping up, and the other 50 percent the TV is just on so it’s not as dissolute when I’m searching the internet, writing, or paying bills. A few years ago I came across Jon & Kate plus 8 which detailed the lives of two parents that through the magic of medicine created a set of twins AND sextuplets. If you like kids, the TLC original show, was one of the best of all the child oriented lot.
Insane little kiddies running rampant through the house with a wife whose only job besides caring for them is making her husband’s life miserable was good TV. There’s been umpteen rumors that Jon and Kate plus 8’s fifth season is in question. I didn’t watch the season finale but internet reports state that the couple’s marriage has seen better times. If you’ve seen the opening to the show or the early episodes when they elude to happier times. Times when Jon had a full head of hair and Kate was an attractive women without the jaded house mother mindset but the ills of marriage, stresses of child rearing, and a 24-hour TLC camera crew access has gotten to them.
The conclusion I’ve come to after watching shows like this is that no family should have more than four kids. Sometimes, it doesn’t matter how strong the bond between man and woman is, having more kids than you can handle will deteriorate that bond and we see that with reports that J & K’s relationship has hit a crossroads. Jon was allegedly out drinking and conversing with co-eds after the show wrapped and for good reason (see above picture)? The kids have turned what was assumed to be an easily digestible Kate into a patriarchal, bossy, annoying wench. I don’t advocate extra-marital affairs and I don’t think Jon would be stupid enough to cheat but I do think he needed to go out on the town to remember that not all women were like what his wife had become. Both of them need to figure out if having the cameras and attention is helping or hurting their family. The goods and services they’ve received as a result of the publicity and genuine need, might not be worth having what little private time they have together violated by cameras.

I can see y there would be a divorce. Kate is an immasculating bia bia. Poor guy.
On the other hand, any guy out there know how it feels to have six kids come out of your body? I’d be pretty pissy too if a whole in my body the size of a couple fingers was stretched to unload a small litter. Just sayin.
C-Section….which may still be enough reason to be pissy.
I cannot imagine what it would be like to have so many kids and have your body go to shit like that…. but we know that’s going to happen. However, I heard (repeat: heard) a woman saw Kate on this show and offered her free medical attention to give her a tummy tuck and whatever else to get her body back to the best of what it was before. I would be stoked!
But yea… I just recently started watching a bunch of them within the last few months and got a little hooked. And always find myself irritated with Kate and being on Jon’s side. I don’t blame him… as long as he did nothing more then hang out.

And yeah, I think I would concur with JMal and say that I too would be pissy if an entire basketball team came out of me, almost instantaneously.
But at the end of the day, I think I agree….although the problem isn’t having many children, its the rest of the stuff you have to do these days that prevents most people from raising a “big family” sanely.
If you look at the most industrialized nations in the world, they are, in effect, shrinking, because the people of those nations are not giving birth to enough children to grow the population, albeit China is the exception. To JUST break even, couples of a nation have to give birth to at least 2.2 (but don’t quote me on that number) children…in Germany the number is less that 1.8( again don’t quote me,…). There is some great cultural geography acronym, like GDP, that describes this. But anyway, I think people are looking at their lifestyles and the lifestyles that are afforded to them and see that its just not as possible as it used to be. And this shows thru the numbers that the US, and most of western Europe are producing…
The reality is, people have to work. More work = less time at home. Less time at home = not enough time for multitudes of children.
Whats ironic is that (theoretically) the people with the best educations and most money to take care of children, are having the least amount of children….SMH
I think it is funny that the media is makin such a big deal out of this whole jon and kate plus 8 thing…I absolutely love this show…and its because its real…The nagging ass wife that is ocd…and the slow husband that doesnt really listen…I hate to break this to the world…but this is reality not the cosbys….every relationship goes through these things…and if it was any ole joe smo off the streets america would not be worried…

It’s unfortunate that you came to the conclusion you did regarding family size. Jon & Kate Plus 8 should not be considered the model home for large families. My wife have been married for nearly 15 years and have seven beautiful, wonderful, healthy children together. We are happily married. We know several families larger than our own, and the parents are happily married as well. Was it smart for Jon & Kate to volunteer to be exploited on TV for several years? Of course not. There is enough pressure on parents of large families without volunteering to go through the pressure cooker and submitting your every move to the media microscope. And, contrary to popular belief, it does not take $150,000+ per year to support a large family and provide them with everything that they need. Earning whatever they did from the TV show was not worth sacrificing their marriage over.
I kid you not I know the girl on the left she’s a bar tender at this crappy college bar in kutztown pennsylvania. I can’t believe it, the one night I don’t go out… anyway i know this is old news but i had to share.
