New darkest hour album is pretty damn boss, but I still come back to Undoing Ruin as their defining moment. They switched out Kris Norris, their lead guitar player, for a clone of Kris Norris. You really wouldn't know he wasn't the one playing unless you just read that sentence.

Sa-Ra Creative Partners...these guys started as a production group, but have their first album dropping on 6/23 and they're pretty tight. while i'm not normally a fan of groups that are heavily sample-driven, i almost give them a pass (maybe b/c they've got a little bit of that Funkadelic vibe). their website sucks, but you can check a song here - http://songza.com/~twkeio

I love it, good stuff this month! And a little shout out to boot. I'm digging on Darkest Hour, so I'll do my top 5 Richmond Bands to check out to keep this discussion open. And maybe others will join in.

1. VCR (Broken up, but one of the best bands to call richmond their home.) http://www.myspace.com/vcr

2. Strike Anywhere. They got the heart. http://www.strikeanywhere.org/

3. GWAR (old school) http://www.gwar.net/

4. David Schultz and the Skylines: Mellow, clean & classic. www.myspace.com/davidshultz

5. Fight the Big Bull (for my bands to keep an eye on!) Jazz band: http://www.myspace.com/fightthebigbull
