Attention Redskins Fans: Stop Bitchin’

I listen to 106.7 on the way to and from work everyday.  Not surprisingly, this week has been all about the recent start to the NFL season and the Redskins’ opening day loss to the NY Giants.  EVERYONE in the area has been calling the Junkies, Mike Wise, Lavar and Chad to bitch about why the team is losing.  The coach is to blame. No, Daniel Snyder is to blame. No, now the players, especially Jason Campbell, are to blame.  I’ve heard the complete gambit of it and I’m pretty much getting sick of it.  You fans sound like the bunch of entitled, stuck up, dumb-asses that most of you are.  90 % of the talk is just rebroadcasting stuff that has already been written and the other 10% is pure dribble.  I’m not even a Redskins fan, but for the sake of the team you fans need to count to fucking ten and relax.  Now, let me set the record straight.

Daniel Snyder is not the reason you guys are losing

Snyder is, however, the reason you pay crazy ticket and food prices, can’t tailgate anymore, and have to make sure your granny and her season tickets are safe.  Snyder is a businessman but you guys can’t possibly believe he is to blame for what happens on the field.  Get a clue.

Jim Zorn is not the MAIN reason you guys are losing

Questionable play calls are part of the game.  If Randle El had thrown a touchdown on that reverse you guys would have called Zorn a genius while taking off your “Horny for Zorny” shirts and twirling them in the air.  Besides that play, there wasn’t much that can be said negatively about his coaching.

The Players ARE the reason you guys are losing

Execution wins football games. If a team goes out there and everyone does their jobs, they win; period (or full stop if you’re British).  Even with average coaching, a talented and determined team can go out and win week in and week out.  Look at all the coaches who rode teams their predecessors built to super bowls.  You can’t possibly believe guys like Barry Switzer and Mike Tomlin are anything but average NFL coaches.  If the players are willing to give it all they got and put in the work, they will win.

In the Giant’s game, you lost because of the play on the field, not because of what was called or because your jersey cost too much.  Campbell turned the ball over, Moss gave up on plays and the defense missed too many tackles and blew coverage assignments.  These things aren’t the fault of Snyder, or Zorn; they are completely owned by the players.

Listen, I know you all hate Daniel Snyder.  That doesn’t mean you should throw the whole team under the bus.  To me, the way the fans are acting is drawing parallels to how the nation did not support our troops overseas because we had an inept president.  Apply accountability to whom it is due.  However, there’s no need to start a revolution over one lost football game.  Especially when it was game that you guys were expected to lose anyway.  That being said, I hope you get stomped by the Rams.  Radio will get REAL interesting after that.
