Jon and Kate Plus 8: Jon Speaks

From CNN.com

A few minutes ago, the ABC special Primetime: Family Secrets, aired an interview of Jon Gosselin.  The interview, conducted by Chris Cuomo, was Jon’s first solo interview since being blasted into fame with the birth of the sextuplets.  While nothing in the interview was surprising, something about it still seemed a bit odd to me.

Jon did exactly what everyone expected him to do — he gave his version of how things were going between him and Kate Gosselin. He detailed the moment when things began crashing down and how his estranged wife made him feel on a day-to-day basis.  It seems “beat down” is the term he used most often to describe how Kate made him feel.

Personally, I’m on a fence about this whole thing.

Part of me wants to tell Kate and Jon: “You reap what you sow.”  If you put yourselves and your kids in the spotlight then get used to squinting when looking past the flashes from the paparazzi’s cameras.  Another part just feels sorry for the “8.”  Nothing good can come from this situation for them.  It’s going to be a tough road for all of your favorite TV youngsters.gosselingang550550fm8

I’m split between hating Jon and feeling sorry for him.  It’s not hard to see where he was coming from.  Kate definitely seems like a ball breaker.  However, he certainly is not going about any of this the right way.

Yachting in France and publicly gallivanting around town aren’t the best things to be doing right now.  And tonight, he probably made the gravest of mistakes — he blurted out his crazy love for Kate’s surgeon’s daughter, Hailey Glassman.  I think he pretty much just constructed his own publicity cross with that one.  And he’ll be a hanger not a nailer.

The special as a whole was tough to watch.  It felt like Jon was trying to make some strong points and demonstrate that he simply is human.  However, sometimes it just came off as weird.  One factor I think contributed to it was Cuomo.  I don’t believe Chris Cuomo was professional in the least bit.  In all actuality, it was abundantly clear that Cuomo did indeed “feed into frenzy” and decided to chastise and talk condescendingly to his “guest.”  Come on Cuomo.  You don’t work for US Weekly.

Just chiming in on a hot topic….

  1. John says:

This show, and everything about this family is just like the idea of government health care

    It sucks.

Yeah this dude is skipping along nicely into the realm of douchedom. I totally agree that he needs to act like he’s got some class instead of doing everything he can to show up on TV shows and magazines. How much free time can you possibly have when you’re single and have 8 fucking kids? What’s his pickup line at parties? “Hey I’m Jon Gosselin, the guy with tons of family baggage”?

    what a fucking moron.

  3. Amy says:

It is a shame they can not work things out.

I was totally “Team Jon” until he started wearing Ed Hardy and dating binge drinking 20somethings. I have always dislike Kate and her evilness, but Jon is making a complete fool out of himself! What needs to happen here is the cancellation of their “show”. I stopped watching last season, and I emailed TLC stating my sentiments. But money talks, and their ratings are average…plus, TLC gets free publicity from the rags. Then again, I just fed the frenzy by taking my time to comment on this douche!!! Poor “8″… I hope they get their share of the money to use on therapists when they grow up!
