Local Ish: DC Halloween Club Scene
Okay, we’ve found and carved the perfect pumpkin, run through the corn mazes, and taken a ghost tour of some of the more haunted places in the area. After tomorrow night the kids will have put themselves into self-induced sugar comas but now it is time for the adults to play. But what are we to do?
I’ve got your answer right here as I bring you a list of some of the various Halloween-themed events going on in our beloved DC area.
Lux Lounge has events both tonight and tomorrow night. Tonight is Disturbia Pt. 2, doors open at 10 and you can receive complimentary admission by printing up the flyer from the site and bringing it in. On Halloween night is their Nightmare on New York Avenue which is sponsored by Guinness. However, as the website seems to value style over substance, there is very little information as to what is involved or what to expect with either of these parties.
Love is also doing the nightmare theme (as well as the lack-of-much-event-information theme) with their Nightmare on Okie Street (because they’re located on Okie Street, get it?) This one is tonight and if you print up and bring this pass, you can get free admission before 12 and if you can get there earlier there is an open bar from 10-11. Keep in mind that their dress code (no timbs, no ripped or baggy jeans, and no athletic wear) will be enforced.
FUR has elected to do the pre-Halloween party as well, but they are actually includig useful information on the site. This year is the Dare to Bare Naughty Pre-Halloween Bash. With 4 dance floors, $3 drink specials and a $1000 prize for the best costume, you can definitely expect some competition though. If you text the keyword ‘FUR’ to 25827, you can get yourself placed on the guest list which will get you free admission before 11.
For those that lead an “alternative lifestyle” (a term that I hate by the way), I haven’t left you out. Apex in Dupont Circle is having (you guessed it)…a nightmare themed Halloween party! This one is a pre-Halloween party as well (taking place tonight) and is creatively titled Nightmare on P Street. 9pm-3am, 18+ and with a $10 cover, Apex features DJ Randy White, guest DJ Aaron Riggins and a costume contest. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the Capital Pride Alliance. More information is available here.
On a serious note, Halloween is one of the more dangerous nights to be on the road. Kids are walking around, almost everyone (other than the kids) has been drinking, and sobriety checkpoints are everywhere which make it a perfect night to not drive and therefore a perfect night for the SoberRide program to kick off for the holiday season. For a free ride home (up to a $50 fare), call 800-200-TAXI between 10pm Saturday and 6am Sunday morning. This is a very good cause and if you are interested you can support it by making a (tax-deductible) donation here.
Of course this list is not completely comprehensive so if I have missed something worth mentioning, please let everyone know in the comments. Also, we want to see how you celebrated Halloween. Send them to us to have them featured on the site. All submissions can be sent to udothedishes@gmail.com
