Ahh yes.  I love the fall for a few reasons.  The first of course being football and the Dallas Cowboys.  However, another guilty pleasure of mine is the other futbol.  Everyone is used to sports games coming out with year after year of iterations that merely update rosters.  I mean seriously, how much has Madden really advanced in the last few years.  The FIFA series, on the other hand, has been making leaps and bounds unmatched by its cursed cover brethren.  This year is no different.

There is one huge addition to this game that has or will become a staple in every sports game for the rest of our game playing lives: Virtual Pro.  Much like in NHL 10, Virtual Pro lets you create your own player, jump on a team with a bunch of Xbox Live buddies and then build your player into a superstar through online matches.  It is an absolute blast.  If you want to talk smack in person on Xbox Live, upload a pic of your face and attach it to your Pro.  Now smile as you hit a screamer to the back of net.

Manager Mode has not changed much from last year.  It actually just got a new interface that makes it a bit easier to get to information such as tables, fixtures and stats.  Pretty straight forward.

The graphics haven’t made a jump as we are approaching that uncanny edge of how realistic games can get.  Well known players have had their faces touched up a bit but that’s about it.  The  real improvement has been in the ball control of the players.  The new 360 dribbling system provides a greater sense of control even though it may frustrate you for a few moments when you open the box.  Also, the freestyle tricks get ramped up another notch and pulling off a seaming endless train of moves is effortless.

Overall, FIFA 10 is a class act.  I give it an astounding 4.5 squirts out 5.  The only negative I can really say is that it will unfortunately be relegated to a coaster once Modern Warfare 2 comes out next week.
