Local Ish: Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving is one of the few holidays that I actually celebrate because…how can you not celebrate a holiday where gluttony is the main objective?  Sure there’s the getting together with family and “being thankful” and all that, but what I usually look forward to most is the food coma after the eating.

I happen to be very close with my family, but for many people the holidays and getting together with the family means stress so this column is for you.  I really wanted to blow this column off using the holiday as an excuse, but I couldn’t do that to you.  You need to get out this weekend and blow off some steam so I’ve gone back through some of the favorite venues mentioned in previous columns, and compiled a list of their Thanksgiving weekend events.

Now even though we should be thinking about supporting our troops at all times, the holidays can be especially difficult for them being away from their families so now is as important a time as any to show your support.  While there are many worthwhile charities out there providing a number of invaluable service to our troops; I personally feel that what the people over at the Wounded Warrior Project is just fantastic and I strongly urge anyone who is able to, to support them with a (tax-deductible) donation.  DONATE
