Medicare Fraud Anyone?

I’ve become what I never thought I would, my father.

You remember when you were young, after dinner your dad would watch the news or read the paper?  Now, it seems I’m the one watching the news, reading the paper, and generally being tuned-in (as I’m sure you’ve been for years).  Make no mistake, I didn’t just start paying attention but I’m doing it more consistently now but not because I think it’s the right thing to do or that there is some obligation but because I want to.  It’s strange but everyone has to grow up sometime and in my line of work the implications of current events cannot be downplayed.

60-minutes

60 Minutes has always been a novel way to get a grasp on issues that are glanced over by less investigative outlets.  That ticking clock used to symbolize Sunday night and boredom when I was in grade school but now it’s a way to get tuned in without actually feeling like you’re watching the news.

Here is six minutes on the state of Medicare from October 25th.  As the story goes, Medicare fraud is a $60 billion dollar business.  While it’s not the whole segment you’ll get the point very quickly.  Tell me, after watching this, why wouldn’t you involve yourself in this lucrative and relatively painless feat if you were a criminal?

This is typical of what happens when Government gets involved into business. They don’t worry about making a profit so they don’t notice or care when 60 Billion dollars is being sucked right out of the system.

Government steals from us, only to have people steal from them. Except the final thief goes to jail when he gets caught. The Government however continues to steal our money, and gets reelected in the process because they are taking care of so many people.

    What a joke.

I remember watching that when it came on, it was pretty infuriating to see. But with respect to your comment, isn’t a big part of the problem the fact that most of the time the final thief doesn’t get caught?

Let’s increase government involvement in healthcare! Their incompetance is the only way to solve the problem. I can’t wait until it becomes a $300 billion industry when the administration finds all these “efficiencies”.
