First, let me say that I completely understand and appreciate the likening of these these two otherwise completely opposite genres of “movies”. In fact, the irony of it all is quite entertaining.

However, if you believe that all girls want Prince Charming and want to be waited on hand and foot, you are dead wrong. Not every girl WANTS to be treated like a princess. Here, I’ll throw my personal life out there. I was in a relationship with this guy that would do ANYTHING for me. He thought I walked on water. And ya know what? IT PISSED ME THE HELL OFF AND I GOT RID OF HIM.

Now please don’t think that I’m saying that girls want to be treated badly – b/c they don’t. But I’m also saying that not every girl wants to be treated like a princess. I can get my own damn door, thank you. I can pay my own damn bills, thank you.

Let’s really look at the Disney stories. Aladdin? Ahhh – great example. The “princess” was Jasmine. And what did she want more than anything else? To be treated like a REGULAR PERSON. She fought her own battles. Aladdin didn’t have to fight for her – he fought WITH her. Yes, she did get trapped in the giant hourglass at the end and ultimately Aladdin had to come to her rescue, but wouldn’t it have been pretty much the same ending if it was the other way around?

How bout Snow White? Her journey wasn’t quite a walk in the park. Her stepmother tried to KILL HER for God’s sake. Her only friends were animals and 7 midgets (not that there is anything wrong with that!). Really? You ENVY her b/c Prince Charming kissed her and magically woke her up? Thanks but no thanks. I’ll stick to my own poison apples thank you very much.

I guess I’m just not the girly-girl romantic type, but I know a lot of girls that feel like this. Now I’m not super-feminist here telling everyone all women that they should burn their bras, but come on people. Gag me with the “storybook fantasies”. Men, take it from a woman, we don’t want a Disney movie. If we did there would probably be a whole lot more lesbians in the world.

See, I never got that from Disney movies. They made me think that all animals talk. I’ve been disappointed my whole life.
